burned

Last night I arrived home slightly after 5:30pm. I was very tired and once I entered my house my head started to bob from side to side, it was difficult for me to stay awake. True to my nature, however, I have several projects going on that I needed to complete so I did what I always do; sat down at the kitchen table, opened up the laptop and started working. It lasted all of about 30 minutes before I decided to head upstairs to take a quick bath and then lay down for a "power nap".

My power nap lasted 12 hours.??

Twelve glorious hours of perfect uninterrupted sleep atop my newly purchased pillowtop mattress. I was floating on a cloud and sleeping like a baby in heaven; oh so comfortable.

On a normal day I awake at 7:45am and head out the door by 8:15am, this morning was different. I awoke at 7:00am and decided that I was going to take my dear sweet time in getting ready for work. I was fully awake before taking a shower, I did not?cut myself shaving, and all of the clothes that I wanted to wear were clean. My morning was perfect.

After showing I headed downstairs to setup up the ironing board and preheat the iron; although my clothes were clean they were not ironed. I ran back upstairs to grab my clothes and a few other things for work. When I returned back downstairs I held my hand in front of the iron to check the temperature. It was cold. I checked the temperature dial but it was set correctly. I looked at the wall outlet in which it was plugged into and thought that maybe I had plugged it into a switched outlet. My living room has two switches that I have not discovered the purpose of, yet. I made the assumption that the outlet in which the iron was plugged into was controlled by one of these switches but to be sure I should test the iron again.

I reached over and slid the base of my hand along the metal plate of the iron. It was HOT!! and it burned!!

Apparently the first time I tested the iron my hand was too far away to feel the heat but the iron was indeed functioning. I now have two small blisters on the inside joint of my index and middle fingers on my right hand.?Hopefully this does not?set a precedent for?the rest of the day. ?
