Earlier this year I had a "crazy" idea of filming myself life while I, and a few friends, rode a bicycle across the country. My idea was pretty basic.

Webcamera on the front of the bike, firewire back to a mac-mini type computer, streamed via Quicktime streaming through a Verizon Internet card. A hosted server running darwin streaming server would pick up the stream and then feed it to whomever wanted to watch. Super basic and fairly easy to setup.

A few technical problems would exist with buffers and replays but a little bit of scripting to cache on the local computer and then reassemble on the server would solve those issues pretty quickly. In my view my main challenge would be to power the computer while I rode across vast stretches of nothingness without an extension cord.
