WTF?!? Are we serious?

I'm filing this was under "What the F*$#?!?". Today the Wall Street Journal published a story entitled "U.S. Draws Map of Rich Artic Floor Ahead of Big melt". Ok its no secret that every country and a few mothers are trying to stake claim to the North Pole for the potential oil and gas reserves trapped beneath its icy crust. What is insane is the reasoning behind it. A quote from today's WSJ article reads

"In an era of climate change, these frozen assets are up for grabs, as melting ice allows detailed mapping and, one day perhaps, drilling. Rising temperatures thinned the ice pack to a record low this month. If current trends continue, the Arctic could be ice-free in summer months by 2040..."

Are we freakin' serious? As a civilization we recognize that Global warming is bad except, of course, when it melts ice that has entrapped, thus freeing, OIL. OIL!!! Read that again. OIL! Oil has been identified as one of the major reasons behind global warming so what the heck are we doing anticipating using more oil that global warming has "freed up". Do we expect to warm the earth up even more and see what else the heat will uncover? Maybe we can finally get to those diamonds, gems and other minerals trapped beneath earth's crust if only we could melt that too.

Come'on global warming make us all rich! Its only at the expensive of destroying the very earth that we live on. True/Full cost accounting anyone?

Go talk about this on WSJ's forum.

What the crap?!?

Ok, So my car was broken into on saturday January 17th. I called my insurance and started a claim that day and my car is STILL in the auto body shop for only TWO pieces of window glass. To that my friends I say What the crap?!? (phrase stolen from Laurie, thanks Laurie). Ok so here's how it breaks down

Saturday January 17th, I discovered my beat up car (check the pictures in a previous post)

Monday January 19th (MLK day) I dropped my car off at Blue Ribbon Auto Body

Tuesday 20th, I called Blue Ribbon Auto Body. They informed me that my insurance claim was cancelled due to insufficient damage to my car. It turns out that the insurance adjuster only looked at 1 of my 2 broken windows.

Tuesday 20th, I called my insurance agent and basically ask "What the crap!?! (thanks Laurie)". He apologizes for the mistake and assures me that it will be reassessed asap.

Wednesday 21st. nothing happens

Thursday 22nd. Damage was reassessed. Insurance adjuster asks for a quote from Blue Ribbon Auto Body, where my car has been sitting since monday. Insurance adjuster rejects the quote from Blue Ribbon Auto Body. To what I say "What the crap!?!"

Saturday 25th. I was informed of the quote rejection and also informed that safelite, a glass company, would be replacing my windows at Blue Ribbon Auto Body. Kinda a stab in the eye to Blue Ribbon Auto Body dont'cha think?

Sunday 25th, nothing happens

Monday 26th (today). My car is supposed to be done today but I won't time to pick it up as I wwaaayyy too much homework.

Car Theft

Last friday night in the early hours of the morning my car was broken into. My car wasn't alone though, 4 other cars on my block, 1 car on the next block over and rumour has it another 5 or 6 cars were also hit several blocks away. I was just one of the many.. I can't even feel special about this.It appears as though there were 3 or more thieves as each one of my doors was unlocked and dirty glove prints were visible on the door handles. My glovebox, center console and side doors were all rifled through yet the only thing taken was my cd player and a twenty dollar bill that was stored out of view in the side door.

Although having your car broken into is never good the only thing that angered me was that they ripped up my dash. They could have taken the cd deck without ripping apart my dash, honest it can be done. It wasn't hard to fix but now the dash has a slight wobble to it, uurrrggghhh. Oh ya, and apparently in their rush to rip apart my dash they must have slammed their hand into my windshield because now it has a big spider crack (8+ inches)in it. I'm working with my insurance company currently to get the back passenger window, front windshield and cd player replaced and the dash and alarm fixed. Yup, that's right I do have an alarm but now it is damaged, a lot of good that did me.
