Christmas in China
The only way I can describe Christmas in China is "between two worlds". China is officially an atheist country thus Christmas isn't a holiday. Schools are in, post offices are open, stores are open, etc. Christmas is not a holiday. In reality if it weren't for the years upon years of western influence Christmas wouldn't exist in China. Christmas, however, does exist in China.
Christmas trees, although not abundant, are around. Christmas lights are strung, decorations are everywhere. You get the point. I think it can be best described as commercial Christmas exists in China.
Our Christmas this year was a bit different than years past especially since we actually went to class on Christmas day. We celebrated none the less.
This is yet another quickly shot and rapidly edited video. This is how we celebrated Christmas. A good lunch, massage, good dinner, wine and chocolate. A very western day on a western holiday.
I am sorry to tell you that Christmas is a Christian Holiday, mucked up with commercialism but distinctly Christian, we would celebrate it without trees, presents and Santa anyway..so check out the chinese Christians that were rounded it up and tortured because they celebrated a Western Holiday..nope..they celebrate a personal relationship with Jesus with a birthday party..sad for them
